The primary duties of the Co-Chairs shall include, but not be limited to:

1. Being the official spokespersons for the Organization;
2. Promoting the Mission and Objectives of the Organization;
3. Providing leadership and overall direction of the Organization;
4. Establishing, in conjunction with the Directors, Regional Coordinators, and Board of Trustees, goals for the Organization for the year;
5. Executing the set-forth goals;
6. Appointing, as needed, a Committee (as defined in Article XII “Committees") to accomplish specific goals and designate its Chairs(s);
7. Informing the Board of Trustees and JAINA Executive Committee once every two (2) months of the Organization’s recent events, current activities, and planned events;
8. Leading the Organization’s Executive Board meetings; and
9. Fulfilling their individual obligations as set forth in the YJA Operating Manual.

The primary duties of the Director of Project Development shall include, but not be limited to:

1. Initiating and coordinating board wide projects that have a religious, social, educational and community service component, and delegating project responsibilities to the appropriate board members;
2. Assisting Co-Chairs in the management of Directors by ensuring they are fulfilling their duties and goals, as well as providing recommendations to both Directors and Co-Chairs for improvement;
3. Maintaining the College Chapters program and consistently recruit new Chapters;
4. Collaborating with outside parties that could assist in developing projects, including, but not limited to:
• JAINA EC, Directors, and Committees; and
• Philanthropic organizations whose missions align with that of YJA.
5. Acting as a liason for the YJA Convention in non-convention years by:
• Consulting with the previous YJA Executive Board to assess the strengths/weaknesses of the previous YJA Convention;
• Compiling documents and other important materials from the previous YJA Convention;
• Updating and editing the YJA Convention bid packet;
• Leading the marketing and outreach campaign to find the host city for the next YJA Convention; and
• Ensuring the current Executive Board votes on the host city for the next YJA Convention.
6. Assisting the Co-Chairs and the Board of Trustees with the YJA Election process by:
• Training the current Executive Board members on the election process and protocol; and
• Updating the election guidelines, as needed, to complement organizational and long-term development.
7. Fulfilling their individual obligations as set forth in the YJA Operating Manual.

The primary duties of the Director of Events shall include, but not be limited to:

1. Managing the activities of the six Regional Coordinators (“RCs"), ensuring they are fulfilling their duties and goals, as well as providing recommendations to them for improvement;
2. Initiating and coordinating regional and national events with the RCs to promote the goals of YJA;
3. Acting as ad-hoc RC, if RC does not meet set expectations;
4. Hosting weekly meetings with all RCs;
5. Helping RCs communicate intra-board as needed for projects and making sure that the RC’s are making good use of their resources on Executive Board;
6. Developing contacts outside of th Executive Board that will assist in implementing events (former Executive Board members, Jain Center Presidents, etc.);
7. Managing the Remind event notification system;
8. Coordinating events with other Jain groups, i.e. YJP, JMP, YJUK, and YJS;
9. Reviewing prior to use all RC and LR documentation, including Retreat Packet, Local Representative Application, and Event Evaluations, and ensuring that they are updated with learnings, relevant documentation, and metrics as events are conducted during the year;
10. Managing each RC through their retreat planning process; and
11. Fulfilling their individual obligations as set forth in the YJA Operating Manual.

The primary duties of the Director of Education shall include, but not be limited to:

1. Educating the Organization’s members by:
• Initiating projects for the year to increase education within the membership; and
• Helping regional coordinators develop educational components for events and retreats.
2. Leading activities and maintaining regular resources that ensure the availability of strong educational content for members, including, but not limited to:
• Reviewing yja.org for current educational material and resources and making recommendations for improvement;
• Updating the Organization’s events calendar to include important Jain holidays (Paryushan, Mahavir Jayanti, etc);
• Compiling other online Jain resources;
• Contributing educational articles to the Organization’s blog;
• Organizing educational webinars;
• Managing and maintaining YJA Forums; and
• Adding material to and facilitating the online YJA Pathshala.
3. Communicating with outside parties and organizations relating to Jain education by working closely with the JAINA Director of Education, interfaith organizations, youth groups, and other parties;
4. Assisting the Director of Publications in providing educational content for Young Minds and contributing articles when possible to other counterpart Jain publications (UK Young Jains, JAINA Huffington Post blog, etc.);
5. Assisting the Director of Public Relations in compiling education-related material for e-newsletters and social media channels; and
6. Heading up all Educational aspects of YJA projects being undertaken and utilize a subcommittee as needed; and
7. Fulfilling their individual obligations as set forth in the YJA Operating Manual.

The primary duties of the Director of Finance shall include, but not be limited to:

1. Tracking and maintaining YJA’s finances (expenditures and revenue) in accordance with the YJA Constitution and JAINA’s guidelines;
2. Working with the Co-Chairs and the Director of Fundraising to develop a budget for the organization at the start of each term;
3. Preparing and providing JAINA any relevant financial documentation for tax purposes;
4. Delivering reports on the status of YJA's finances to the Co-Chairs and Board of Trustees every month;
5. Actively supporting the Regional Coordinators in planning regional retreats by (for example) reviewing contracts with the Co-Chairs, negotiating discounts with vendors (if applicable) and helping budget overall expenses (e.g., food, session materials, registration prices);
6. Issuing YJA’s checks;
7. Reimbursing Executive Board members;
8. Issuing tax receipts for any donations made to YJA; and
9. Fulfilling their individual obligations as set forth in the YJA Operating Manual.

The primary duties of the Director of Fundraising shall include, but not be limited to:

1. Seeking innovative ways to make YJA financially self-sufficient;
2. Initiating and coordinating fundraising projects with Executive Board members and Local Representatives from various sanghs and regions;
3. Maintaining consistent communication with YJA donors and ensuring timely follow-up;
4. Leading board efforts on consistent outreach to and communication with Sangh Executive Committees and leaders and YJA Board and Convention Committee alumni;
5. Creating and maintaining a list of fundraising projects for the year with specific goals and deadlines;
6. Reviewing list(s) of previous fundraising projects to determine successes and suggests improvements;
7. Maintaining YJA's donor database;
8. Creating a list of potential advertising companies for YJA's website and Young Minds;
9. Locating Jain friendly organizations willing to partner at YJA's events;
10. Developing long term relationships with businesses and organizations that share Jain values;
11. Identifying areas of saving resources by utilizing YJA's non-profit status; and
12. Fulfilling their individual obligations as set forth in the YJA Operating Manual.

The primary duties of the Director of IT shall include, but not be limited to:

1. Maintaining yja.org and all its functions, including but not limited to removing broken links, constantly improving areas that need updates and/or re-design;
2. Helping other Board members utilize new technology platforms the improve the Organization’s work and reach to membership;
3. Actively exploring new tools, platforms, and methods related to technology to bring to YJA;
4. Overseeing server maintenance and ensuring renewal of all domain names;
5. Creating new functions to make website use more efficient;
6. Consistently and accurately update each region sub-page (including latest events, newest Local Representatives, and updated photos), when directed by the Regional Coordinators, Director of Events, or Director of PR, and individually at least once a month;
7. Uploading and archiving relevant external materials, including e-newsletters and webinar slides;
8. Uploading and archiving back issues of Young Minds, when directed by the Director of Publications;
9. Heading up all IT aspects of projects being undertaken and utilize a subcommittee as needed;
10. Fulfilling their individual obligations as set forth in the YJA Operating Manual.

The primary duties of the Director of Public Relations shall include, but not be limited to:

1. Acting as liaison for YJA and outside entities, communicating YJA's updates and initiating joint projects with the aforementioned entities. These entities include but are not limited to JAINA, YJP, YJUK, YK Perth, YJ Nairobi, and Jain Digest;
2. Creating and keeping regularly updated a posting calendar for all YJA social media channels and communication outlets;
3. Assisting in editing all written communication between the Executive Board members and outside entities;
4. Working with Directors and Regional Coordinators to compile relevant information for bi-monthly e-newsletter;
5. Preparing, editing, and sending out bi-monthly e-newsletter to the Organization’s members;
6. Acting as the chief promoter of YJA’s projects and activities to JAINA and sanghs;
7. Promoting other Board member’s work and YJA initiatives by:
• Working closely with the Regional Coordinators to create graphics and fliers to promotes events; and
• Creating advertising materials for projects and activities, including by not limited to Facebook posts, tweets, Instagram posts, fliers and other promotional material.
8. Maintaining organizational media archives including but not limited to photos from events, video and any press or media coverage;
9. Utilizing relevant analytics and tracking data to constantly document and improve upon the organization’s digital and advertising reach; and
10. Fulfilling their individual obligations as set forth in the YJA Operating Manual.

The primary duties of the Director of Publications shall include, but not be limited to:

1. Designing, editing, and publishing at least four (4) issues of Young Minds during their term;
2. Gathering and editing content (including, but not limited to, articles, recipes, stories, event recaps, photos, and poems);
3. Coordinating with the Director of Public Relations to curate content and promote each issue of Young Minds;
4. Managing our Medium blog, which holds all the blog posts and articles from previous Young Minds magazines;
5. Coordinating with the Director of IT to publish each issue of Young Minds online and on YJA's website;
6. Having access to and knowing how to use Adobe InDesign publishing software;
7. Submitting updates and content to Jain Digest and other known Jain publications;
8. Contacting past speakers/session holders from YJA conventions and asking them if they would be interested in writing articles for Young Minds; and
9. Fulfilling their individual obligations as set forth in the YJA Operating Manual.

The primary duties of the Regional Coordinators shall include, but not be limited to:

1. Being effective spokespersons for the Organization in their respective regions and establishing a network of local contacts in at least each major Jain Center within their respective region;
2. Acting as a liaison between the Local Representatives and the Executive Board;
3. Maintaining regular contact on a monthly basis with all Jain Center contacts, LRs, Youth Coordinators and/or Youth Committees, and working closely with the aforementioned people to offer youth support, promote youth involvement in community programs, source ideas for events, and source ideas in which YJA can participate in events;
4. Being the primary organizers, with their Local Representative teams, of a variety of events in their region (at least two (2) events per month, minimum) and at least one (1) regional retreat;
5. Summarizing the primary points of contact for the region (including LRs), and any status updates on initiating contact no later than one (1) month after the Summer Board Meeting;
6. Providing, on a regular basis, the Director of IT with website updates (e.g., new LRs, latest events, updated photos);
7. Actively maintaining their respective region’s Facebook group;
8. Submitting to the Director of Events, at the conclusion of an event, any photos for uploading, as per the Director’s established procedure;
9. Submitting, when requested by the Director of PR or Director of Publications, event recaps for Young Minds or the e-newsletter;
10. Forwarding ideas and concerns from their regions to the Executive Board; and
11. Fulfilling their individual obligations as set forth in the YJA Operating Manual.
